Brown Borat

Borat may soon turn ‘birdie num-num’ into a catchphrase for a whole new generation (hat tip, Lucky):

[Sacha Baron Cohen] is hot to remake the Blake Edwards/Peter Sellers cult comedy of 1968, The Party[in which] a bumbling Indian extra named Hrundri V. Bakshi attends an over-the-top Hollywood bash and totally disrupts everything. Producer-director Edwards and Cohen recently met at a screening of The Party in Santa Monica. They talked a long time. The Sex and the City producers were also rumored to be working on a Party remake. And Mike Myers is bringing his badly-accented Guru Pitka to the big screen next year.

But hey, it’s Sacha Baron Cohen. Maybe you’ll get lucky. Maybe the accent will be halfway decent, the jokes a cut above stereotype, the actor not in brownface.
