After a somewhat protracted silence, I have returned from my kingdom of obscurity to ring in the Christmas season with the aid of BoyMongoose (yeah-yeah, Christmas is colonial hegemony, cultural suppression-cum-oppression, etc., but in my world its also the one time of year when one can praise the lord, pass the whisky, kiss your cousin and have all sorts of other weird moments in personal history, so, I celebrate):
So, who is BoyMongoose? Mmmm, I don’t know, but some say he is the lovechild of South Park and Riki Tiki Tavi, speaking of colonialism. Others say he or rather, his Twelve Days of Christmas, is the most downloaded video-clip on YouTube for the month of November (and thus far, the very short month of December). I say his album Christmas In Asia Minor, is far better than any Christmas at Lincoln Center-PBS-PeterPaul&Mary-WhiteHouse holiday special, and also has the boys at Badmash on the ropes when it comes to satire:
