Bride and prejudice
Crazy Indian uncle in Mass. sues friend for introducing his son to an ugly bride. Writes own complaint (thanks, Anu). Hilarity ensues! We fisk the actual complaint below.
Typical Indian uncle pompousness with freaky random capitalization:

We hate it when our friends are successful. Crazy Indian uncle burns with jealousy at his friend’s social climbing and whines to the judge like some reality show inbreed. Oh Lallan. Why must you boast with Beamer?

Crazy uncle complains the bride can’t speak English using paragraphs rife with tense mismatch, subject-object mismatch, incorrect capitalization (in legal complaints, capitalized words which are not proper nouns are usually defined terms) and missing verbs. Priceless. Not to mention introducing Indian colorism into the legal record of the state of Massachusetts.

Oh, snap! Crazy Uncle throws out ‘Hitlerite,’ going from 0 to Godwin’s Law in six pages.

Crazy Uncle makes up own law on the fly — now attorneys sending routine legal letters can be sued for racketeering, terrorism and assassinating Jimmy Hoffa.

His work here done, Crazy Uncle signs the complaint with a flourish.

Pandey khush hua.
Moral: friends don’t let Crazy Uncles write their own lawsuits.

Re:Colorstruck Indian ads
Amir Khan’s ad is beyond disgusting. I am presuming this ad was run on national television in India. Unbelievable!
Surely, India can benefit from some Political Correctness. Arnt there people in the North-East parts of India with ‘asian’ features. Wonder how the feel about this ad.
Re:Bride and prejudice
This is crazy Indian uncle at his buffoonish best. The underlying grievance behind this lawsuit might actually not be as frivolous. Its his interpretation of law and rendition of events which is comedic and tragic.
It’s still running all the time, not least during the World Cup.
I asked a few of my friends in India…none of them found Aamir Khan’s ad “disgusting”.
What might seem “disgusting” to western audience is sometimes “perfectly okay” for the indian audience (and vice-versa).
When I came to US, I found the standup comics a bit disturbing..the way they often used racial epithets. This type of humor was non-existent in India (at that time).
‘Political correctness’ has different meanings in different cultures.
You have to ask an East Asian person.
got it.
The Aamir Khan ad isn’t racist, so much as it is stupid. *cringe* Can’t believe an artiste like Aamir Khan would stoop to ridiculous schtick like this, unless Salman Khan was acting with him and it was a reprise of Andaaz Apna Apna. *double cringe*
As for Highly Litigious Uncle, it’s just oh too embarrassing. I wonder if his friends and family are mortified. Hell, if we could sue because our “friends” had better cars/clothes/loot/toys than us, doesn’t it completely go against everything our Papas and Uncles told us when we wanted something, as kids: “work hard, beti, and buy it for yourself. it’s rewarding…”
