President Bush yesterday offered his strongest support of embattled Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, saying the general “hasn’t crossed the line” and “truly is somebody who believes in democracy.” [Link]

General Musharraf took another step to secure his rule by announcing by decree… new amendments to the Constitution. The newspaper Dawn said in a headline today: “Blanket indemnity for president,” adding that the emergency rule would now be immune from judicial review. [Link]

Many a PR person would give their Crackberry for that level of obedience.
