Con evangelist

It’s an old story: a godman performs fake miracles to separate people from their rupees. Celebrity evangelist Benny Hinn, whose stadium-size evangelical events have played in Bangalore, was recently exposed by a CBC documentary called The Fifth Estate:

Benny Hinn Ministries takes in as much as $250 million a year in donations and proceeds from sales of such items as autographed bibles… a lavish lifestyle of fancy cars, a 7,000-square-foot ocean-side mansion and luxury travel to five-star hotels on a private jet…

Hinn’s sessions have gained a reputation for sudden miracle cures for cancer, blindness, diabetes and even AIDS… People dramatically fall to the floor proclaiming their health after a touch from Hinn’s hand…

… hidden cameras… show staff screening audience members coming forward, ensuring none with obvious physical ailment get near Hinn. “It’s always somebody that has some kind of illness that can’t be readily seen” that makes it to the stage… The CBC tracked down some of the people claimed to have been cured, only to find that they were either still sick, never had the condition they were supposedly cured of, or had died. You’d think after all the televangelist scandals, people would have gotten a clue.

I am not shocked to find out that Benny Hinn is a fraud( The proof is always welcome), but I am more amazed at some Indian celebrities who attended Benny Hinn’s stadium event. How pathetic !!!

Benny Hinn is numero uno fraud. Bollywood folks should make a c-grade movie on him and name it “Badmash Guru”.
Why the hell he will “Pray for India”(In the photo) ..He will pray for “More money from India” ! People like Benny Hinn must be sent to Syberia.

I take it you’ve never seen Benny Hinn’s theatrics set to Drowning Pool’s “Let the bodies hit the floor”….

    Great video!

This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, if it hasnt already happened. I am sure the ministry makes people sign extensive waivers before they can enter these events. It will be an interesting case, nevertheless. It will probably survive summary judgment and it will come down to the type of jury selected.

benny hin is not the problem, belief in god and the attendant mumbo jumbo is the problem.
until reasonable people do not stand up and loudly procaim…there is no god, benny and ilk will alwys find gullible souls to save and relieve of hard earned rupees.

    Whoa! Hey UB!

There’s an item on Webb in the news tab apparently posted under my handle. Unless I have been sleep surfing, which is unlikely because I’m gray enough to know it is better to pull the cord than to risk sending out a Dali’esque email to a client in a sleep deprived state, that article did not originate with me. Actually, I dont even read political US blogs (find them too gut wrenching partisan).

So UB - please delete, or assign to Mr Anon (there was a time I used to think there was a really prolific poet named Anon).
