East is East River
Check out the snaps from Diwali festivities at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport yesterday. Despite excellent weather, it was much less crowded than usual — people were all desi’d out from the India @ 60 celebration. The masala dosas and chhola bhaturas tasted like they were made in large cauldrons with scant titration of spices. But the fireworks delivered:

Lovely photos. The fireworks did deliver.
Oh my god. You said Koosh Balls. Ha ha ha.
I missed it this year, but I’ve gone for the past two years at least. The fires are always surprisingly good. I don’t know why it’s surprising, but it is. :)
umm isn’t diwali not until november this year?
or is it just early to take advantage of the good weather?
It gets too cold in November, and you need permits from the city in advance so they keep the dates fairly stable.
Not suprizing, that’s exactly how they would have made the masala, the sambar and the chhole :) If they actually made the dosas and bhaturas in couldrons I could imagine being quite miffed.
Very nice pictures, Thanks Manish
