Força Furtado

Awhile ago I pointed y’all to the authorized desi remixes off Nelly Furtado’s new album Loose. The desi mix videos are now beginning to show up at Café Coffee Days in Bombay on a jukebox + plasma screen system called QJam.

Most of the time, the video rights for jukebox tracks haven’t been granted, so the system shows a lame, generic party clip. But with Hindi songs, Bollywood film trailers, and now the Furtado mixes, the videos come along for the ride. It’s so very apropos first seeing these vids in this Portuguese-influenced hood:

Furtado has a long history with Punjabis in Canada.
