Freddie fabulous

From the fascinating and NSFW Freddie Mercury documentary A Kind of Magic, here’s a clip about the bucktoothed bohemian’s years in an Indian boarding school (thanks, Ashvin). At the end it peers gleefully into groupies’ offerings, hedonistic parties and mud wrestling.
You go out the bus… They all had to have meat on them. That was Freddie’s look: truckers.
Here’s the beginning of the documentary and a segment about the commercial pressures against Bulsara coming out. Farrokh’s parents seem very tolerant now, so if you do intend to come out to your parents, all you have to do is become the country’s #1 rocker.
*Yawn* It’s all so passé compared to what goes on in our secret lair. Javed Akhtar rides drrty when the shayari begins.

what? didnt catch that.
oh, and the verification code is still working with “brown” and not “ostyle”
Annotated with links.
Not sure how the other code crept in. How bizarre!
Thanks for the extended post Manish. The MIA-Spike Jonze TV bit linked to by “lucky” is an interesting contrast to this one; in the way Freddie dealt with his ethnic heritage and MIA deals with hers.
True, but some of Mercury’s history was pre-Stonewall. Were many musicians out of the closet back then?
