Gotcha

The conservative blog the Corner is a reliable font of stupidity and thinly-disguised racism. But this post stands out (not for racism but for idiocy):
Hiller [a journalist] asked [Bush] to name the new prime minister of India. “The new prime minister of India is — no,” Bush said…
Bush should have switched fields, to Hiller’s own area of expertise. “You’re in television,” Bush might have said. “Who played the professor on Gilligan’s Island?” [Corner]
Comparing the leader of the world’s largest democracy to TV trivia is an insult. Besides, everyone knows the professor was played by Akshay Kumar.

Quick fun poll for the readers-
a. did you know there is a new PM for south africa as of this week? (Y/N)
b. do you know his/her name? (Y/N)
Me. Y to the first - and I wish I could say Y on the second, but I dont remember his name - ‘it’s not a Mr Majithia or a Ms McGhee’ is not an excuse since I do remember a certain Ms Livni - does that make me racist? -ponders-
p.s. Than you Mr V for the palate cleanser.
Manish,
I respect you man– but I doubt there are any real conservative blogs that you don’t find stupid.
Uh, manish, dude, this is what happens when you are looking for insult in everything. I seriously laughed out loud when I read this. Hilarious. The Corner wasn’t being racist, just silly: what he meant was Bush should ask Heller a gotcha question in his area of expertise and see how he comes out. The area of expertise being television in the case of Heller.
Politics makes people, er, beyond bizarre. I know, I’ve gone bizarro myself. Never pretty. That’s why I’ve decided on the, ‘they all kind of suck’ attitude towards this election. Heck of a good job leading, even as candidates, in this economic enviro, McCain and Obama. Good grief.
BTW - the best political bloggers can find at least something good to say about the other side, because, one political party rarely gets it right on every single question out there. Just sayin1′. Will you spontaneously combust if Obama loses (unlikely, poor guy, he’s gonna have a serious recession to handle and I don’t think he’s up to it. Neither is the other guy, it seems.)
Andrew Sullivan, Daniel Drezner, Marginal Revolution. Not the lockstep party ones or the socially conservative ones.
Yup, was referring to idiocy, not racism, have edited to clarify.
Considering Dubya’s crashed this the Oldsmobile of the nation into a ditch, I’m wondering why he’s only 9 points ahead.
