What IIT Delhi looks like
The IIT Delhi campus has been on lockdown following the 2005 terrorist attack on IISc Bangalore. The new buildings are quite pretty from the outside. I love how the main sign is done in Futura.
At first blush, there were more women here than at UC Berkeley engineering, as is the pattern in many developing countries.

Manish, its IISc Bangalore, not IIS…..
(its minor mistake, but not when it comes to my alma mater) :)).
All right. Can you tell Calcutta to give us Cal back? :)
Manish, you design maven, you!
I like how you’re noticing all the important details. ;)
You like how I dressed it up with analysis? :)
Go to IIT Kanpur. Much more beautiful. IIT D looks like Yojana Bhavan :)
Manish,
Go to my flickr images, and I have IIT (Roorkee) pictures. I was born when my parents worked @ IIT (Kanpur). I have been to IIT (D) in past, and even IIT (Powai). IIT (D), and even IIT (Kanpur) are pretty shitty campuses even IIT (Kanpur) is the top IIT.
No campus in India comes close to Roorkee by a long shot.
Who seconded it among many others? My former advisor from Cornell who visited Roorkee with me for few hours.
Cornell (Ithaca) is the most beautiful campus in the world, perhaps, and he had some real nice words for Roorkee. Some context.
Other pretty campuses in India are IIT (Madras), IISc, Infosys.
All Delhi-based Universities/ Institutes are pretty shitty in terms of upkeep, even JNU.
IIT (D) is known for its permanent state of disrepair.
However, Delhi-based Unis are lively places, no doubt. Did you go to Hauz Khas? Go to JNU.
IIT (Powai) is OK.
Cornell is the most beautiful campus in the world? Let’s finish with U.Va, Berkeley, Oxford and Stanford before, shall we? I agree on the other point though - Roorkee is really very nice and a fantastic school to boot. Granting it IIT status was long-overdue.
