Aruna Irani’s ‘Chadti Jawani’ dance from Caravan (1971) was quite the Mowgliesque item number. The actress wore a short, brightly-colored skirt with leaf-like fringes, a garish circus version of tribal dress.
‘Chadti Jawani’ was resurrected a couple of years ago with three models wearing far less. Irani-Norwegian model Negar Khan, she of the suspiciously plump lips, shot to fame for grabbing her skinny on MTV. There’s something deliciously corrupting about foliage and caravans.
