Karmabling

Karmacy doesn’t release albums often, squeezing one out every presidential election year. And this is their time. Their third full disc, Wooden Bling, is coming out in the next month.

If you’re on Facebook, listen to the lead track, ‘Mera Juta.’ It’s Gujju and Punjabi rap mixed in with classic ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani (My Shoes are Japanese)’ samples. Their sound has grown darker, more layered and more aggressive over the years.

You can preorder the CD or listen to their previous album. They’re playing the Oakland Asian Culture Center May 31 at 8 pm, and the release party is at Knitting Factory Hollywood, June 27 at 8 pm.
