Liquid explosive

Dancer and choreographer Prabhu Deva was once the

Telugu Michael Jackson, but Beatmaster P now

teaches leonine meatheads to writhe atop sanatorium mirrors (via Sepia Mutiny).

People tell me that Hrithik’s movements remind them of mine. That is because he danced exactly the way I asked him to! (Link)

Some of those steps were done by Deva in his movies, and obviously, much better. But good stuff by Hrithik, this is the least effeminate of his dances.

    Is PrabhuDeva wearing Hammer Pants?

awesome. After suffering through the heinous choreography of KANK this weekend, this was a fantastic way to start Monday :)

On the subject of Michael Jackson, last night I began to watch Govinda’s early 1990s movie Raja Babu, and, after recovering from the shock at seeing the young Karisma Kapoor’s eyebrows back then (like caterpillars!), and admitting that Shakti Kapoor as the slimy chamcha assistant is quite annoying (how do I list the ways, from the Hitler moustache to the high-pitched voice), the one scene that did actually have me rolling on the floor was a musical number where the VKC appears in a black pleather outfit (à la Michael’s Bad era threads) complete with silver studs AND, get this, a matching black pleather topi. Priceless.

He then proceeded to dance in an oil-and-water combo of Govinda eshtyle and a poor Michael Jackson imitation.

    Hrithik…effeminate…grrrr…
Being pretty does NOT diminsh one’s masculinity!

As for Mr. Prabhu Deva, thanks for the introduction. I seriously think his skills would have taken MJ to task back in the day. Super impressive!

Yeah, he is from Tamil film industry (Kamal Hasan, Rajanikanth, MGR are some of the big stars), not the Telugu film industry (Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, NTR are the big stars here).

Wikipedia says he is the Indian MJ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prabhu_Deva)
He’s born in Chennai but might be Telugu. MGR (went on the establish the AIADMK and become Tamil Nadu CM) and Rajnikant are both very popular Tamil film stars but not Tamils. MGR was Malayalee and Rajnikant is Marathi.

Jacob, MGR was Mallu but Rajnikanth isn’t Maharastrian, he’s Kannadiga. His real name’s Sivaji Rao. Are there Maharastrian Raos though? My cousin says there are.
