Mmm, mmm

This year’s Masala Mehndi Masti, the monster North American desi arts fest, starts July 26. They’re upgrading their digs to Toronto’s Exhibition Grounds:

M!M!M! is a free festival that takes place over five eventful and fun-filled days and includes over 75 performances, events and activities covering music, dance, film, theatre, food, natural health practices and a new literary arts event (entitled Mushaira) comprising poetry and spoken word in various South Asian languages… The highlight of this year’s fete is new BritInvASIAN powerhouse — TrickBaby from the UK… [Link]

They landed a major sponsor, Rogers Cable, and are claiming 100K attendance this year. If any of you go, do post pictures.

ah… and it IS a stone’s throw away from where i live - and my landlord tells me - he knows of a gap in the fence through which he sneaks in to the expos - i like the man.. :-) he’s the sweetest 70 yr old you’d meet and spry like a spring chicken.

Well, it sure is sweet to see others talking about it. Sometimes i wonder how many people actually know about M!M!M! We outgrew Harbourfront though we loved the place. The Exhibition Grounds are going to be an interesting transition - gap in the fence or not! hahah! We hit over 100k last year! Hope this year goes way beyond - want to be on Toronto’s map as bonafide as the Pride Parade or Taste of the Danforth - One Million Strong! Aspirations are a delightful thing! ;)

hey jyoti - just kidding on the fence bit (tho’ it does exist and my LL uses it to sneak into the boatshow now and then) - i’ll be good and pay the dues - good luck and hope it’s a rollicking good time for all - well done on landing rogers.
BTW - you do realize - it overlaps with hillside festival - a little fly in the malai.
