Hey Jude
Aish and Norah, the Meryl Streeps of desi cinema, arrive at the My Blueberry Nights premiere at Cannes. Jones sports Jude arm candy which looks preternaturally like a young Jack Nicholson.
The NYT reviewed the flick:
… My Blueberry Nights [is] a romantic confection that begins with a lingering shot of vanilla ice cream melting into the gooey filling of a blueberry pie… Mr. Wong’s other recent films, like In the Mood For Love and 2046… unfold mainly in the narrow hallways and cramped rooms of hotels and apartment buildings in crowded Asian cities, where the men dress in dark suits and the women wear flower-printed cheongsams. Those movies are dense with color and shadow. In My Blueberry Nights… the colors are still rich and smoky, but the wider format gives the compositions a looser, more open feeling…
The party… was in a hangarlike structure… [which] housed a kind of Eurotrash version of Mr. Wong’s version of Americana… Airstream trailers had been made over into diners and V.I.P. lounges, and guests were served cheeseburgers and milkshakes as well as whiskey and Champagne… on one of the bars… sat an untouched blueberry pie… waiting for Ms. Jones or some other lovelorn late-night straggler to take the first slice. There were no official Bollywood entries at the festival this year:
In 2002, Sanjay Leela Bansali’s Devdas was screened in the official section, but had the audience walking out of the theatre halfway through…. [the] absence of an official entry at the Cannes is… striking… none from this large Indian contingent have been formally invited to the festival. [Link]

male desi’s everywhere got their hopes up when they saw that all it took to walk Aish down the red carpet was a hair pouf like that. Ok, maybe just me. You would think his father would teach him a thing or two about styling hair.
the trailer for blueberry looks good, though. I’m not sure about the choice of using a norah song for the trailer (it sounds like her) I’m not implying that you could ever overdose on the woman, but it seems a bit cliché.
why do you think the audience walked out on Devdas? I thought it was quite good, but then again… in this kind of highbrow environment I’m not sure the unadulterated emotion of bollywood would go over so well… It’s unfortunate that this stigma has carried through for over 5 years…
Why does he look like her driver in these photos??
Seriously, and what is up with the bearded look ever since they got married??
Because it was that or sit 3 whole hours watching the big nosed guy do head twitches.
the stench of a woe’d man.
I loved Devdas, but brown emo doesn’t play in Ironicpur.
what’s more, the lady’s neck seems to be sans rug burn. there’s something black in the lentils. it may be a mildewy loofah.
Norah’s blue dress is so pretty, no jewellary yet so simple and beautiful..
Looks like movie has a interesting story and good reviews, wonder when that movie will be released in US..I love the title”my blueberry nights”..
Devdas is my personal favourite too, but western audience find the song and dance sequence too broadwayish
I dont know if it is related to brown emotion though..I feel that they react to emotional movies well ..it is just this song and dance sequences that come in between is hard for them to relate to..a couple of my american friends who came home looked dazed when the song and dance suddenly came in the movie…
My american friend and her parents watched “Devdas” and “Bride and prejudice” both borrowing dvds from me..but they all loved Chaddas” Bride and prejudice” a lot but not Devdas..probably it was hard to relate to that time and culture when devdas story happened for them..they love the costumes and color but not songs, dance and the rest of the movie..
Two thoughts.
Ms Jones is endearingly elfin in real life.
Jude law has a huge insecurity around his penis. I am in the market for some new dress shoes. I’ve traditionally worn sensible shoes - but am now finding that most of the designer names put at least an inch and a half space in the toe box. Ecco is notorious for this. I think this is just the myth propping the fashion. Desiboi here of course doesnt need any myths, unlike Jude law who seems to be going with the dong enhancement.
