Old-skool vamp

The original ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ has Anglo-Burmese actress Helen vamping comically while Amitabh, clad in bright green shirt and plaid blazer, does his best to look disapproving:

The remake has Kareena Kapoor, gold lamé and undercurrents of sadism:

They don’t make vamps the way they use to.:-)

I love both of these videos. Kareena looks amazing. But Manish, “undercurrents of sadism” is really a stretch…

Doesn’t original song’s start remind you of the beginning of ‘Don’t phunk with my heart’?

“Doesn’t original song’s start remind you of the beginning of ‘Don’t phunk with my heart’?”

    That’s because it is.

“While the song is built around a sample of “Aye Naujawan Hai Sab Kuchch Yahan,” from the 1972 film Apradh - originally performed by Indian singer Asha Bhosle - the intro to the song is actually taken from the beginning of another Bollywood song from 1978, called “Yeh Mera Dil ” (from the film Don and also performed by Asha Bhosle, and composed by Kalyanji Anandji). The song also uses a vocal interpolation of “I Wonder If I Take You Home” originally performed by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.”
