Where’s Carla Bruni?

Delhi, a few hours ago:

To avoid creating a diplomatic incident, the poor French president even visited the Taj Mahal without girlfriend Carla Bruni.

Happy Republic Day. When in Delhi, beat retreat.

I found this one most curious, because the open palm is the electoral symbol of Sonia Gandhi’s Congress Party!

President Patil probably used it out of habit (though her office is supposed to be non-partisan), but Sarkozy is just saying that he didn’t bring Carla Bruni…:)

And oops, what’s this? Did the President drop something, and is everybody eating with their fingers? :)

That is Patil getting her foot massage. It’s in the Constitution, look it up :)

I flubbed Comment #2. It should have been “Did the President just drop something, or could Carla Bruni be under the table?” :)

    or

“Is that Louis XIV, XV or XVI period furniture out on the lawn?”

(I thought the liveried bearer in that style had gone out with Mountbatten)

More interesting stuff. The Getty caption to this one says “French President Nicolas Sarkozy (L) reacts after eating a spicy Indian snack …”
