I don’t think there’s any relation between Padma the dim-witted listener in Midnight’s Children and Lakshmi. But I’m sure Rushdie related his wife to Vina Apsara in The Ground Beneath Her Feet at some point.
Stupid Girl; doesn’t she realize that he is not in love with her? It’s very obvious that he is merely using this poor woman as a sex object. Who will take care of her when this old man dies? Makes me want to cry…

I don’t object her being a model but I do think this girl is trying to get fame by any means, she is just trying to be another Anna Nicole. It’s just a shame the kind she is portraying. She is marrying a guy who is older than his father. Makes no sense. She knows she can’t bulid her own nest, she can only break one.
