California and Powell
A few years ago, Laurene Powell attended a charity function with some prominent female desi activists. She’s married to our favorite Syrian-German-American high tech CEO, the Master of Raster, Syed Stefan Jobs. And she isn’t even made of brushed steel:

This photo is a serious power chord. Kamala Harris, whose parents are Indian and Jamaican, is the San Francisco DA, the first desi DA in America.
Kavita Ramdas, head of the Global Fund for Women, grew up in India and married a Pakistani man when it was even less common:
… she’s married to Zulfiqar Ahmad, who was raised in a progressive, secular Muslim household in Pakistan… For many years, it was Ahmad who stayed at home with their daughter, Mira, and… cooked meals and took care of the house…
When they got married in 1990, every major paper in India ran news of the event. There was speculation that she had married a Pakistani spy or that their relationship could compromise Indian security…I was famous because I whistled. Women don’t whistle
As a teenager in India, she occasionally sang in a pop-folk group called Graffiti… “a Sikh gentleman who teaches at Northwestern… came up to me and said, ‘You’re that girl from Graffiti, aren’t you?’” Ramdas says. “He had been to (India Institute of Technology), which had had these big music festivals. I was very famous, because I whistled… Women don’t whistle.” [Link]
