Some enchanted morning

Salman Rushdie began his Enchantress PR blitz yesterday with a stop on The View and an interview on WNYC, the Noo Yawk NPR affiliate:

The View stop was surreal. Rushdie’s nasal-congestion voice turned bemused among questions focusing on his sex life, and a set of spoon-fed talking points that were the very embodiment of corporate media.

Please tell me this Enchantress doesn’t get burned at the stake. argh! I’m still waiting on my local library to get me the book.

Did his appearance on The View make it any less painful?

    Not in the least.

the view? i hate to say it, but - seriously?! i wonder why he would agree to it - it doesn’t seem like a show that most authors would think would be effective publicity. but, on another note, he does speak so very well, and even his worst writing (fury!) puts the average author to shame. i just read about the reading tonight and wish that i hadn’t - totally disappointed that i won’t be able to make it…

I did stumble onto those 20 odd minutes of The View, to my horror.
