¡Viva New Jersey!
My friend Mitra Kalita’s Suburban Sahibs notes that disgraced former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey once tried to persuade an Indian-American small businessman not to run for office against McGreevey’s Democratic allies:
‘Peter Kothari here. I’ve decided to run on the Republican Party for freeholder…’ He has … even clipped the few hairs that usually grace his ears… Woodbridge mayor Jim McGreevey spent four hours in Pradip’s travel agency… to persuade him not to run…
When the applause subsides, Pradip takes up the matter of… McGreevey… ‘For twelve years, you did nothing. No more promises… Long live America… Long live India. Jai Hind…’ [Suburban Sahibs]
Tonight we find out just why McGreevey was so insistent on snuffing out his political competition. He wanted the spoils of office for himself:
A former aide to James E. McGreevey said today that he had three-way sexual trysts with the former governor and his wife before he took office… [Link]
Pedersen, who lives with his girlfriend of several years, said he revealed the sexual shenanigans during the couple’s divorce proceedings only because Dina’s camp subpoenaed him… [Link]
Now that’s just cold. What’s a brown man gotta do to get a little extramarital play around here? If only McGreevey had been willing to share. Oh, wait…
Pradip Kothari came to America in 1972 and soon settled with his family in New Jersey. A long-time resident of Edison, Kothari has seen the effects simmering race relations can have on the political climate of the state and town. Kothari was around when the infamous Dotbusters made their mark in New Jersey. When Pradip first set up shop in Edison, he was greeted with broken store windows. [Link]
In 1999, the GOP backed Baljit (Bill) Singh and Andrew Wu for Edison council positions. They lost, each receiving almost half the votes of the four Democratic winners. GOP leaders later said it was like pulling teeth to get the two to campaign…
… a Republican [has] cards stacked against him anyway… ‘They are still not ready for us.’ [Suburban Sahibs]
First Ashley Dupré, now Ted Pedersen. Jersey represent!

That first quote has way too many ellipses to be considered coherent. What exactly is the point there, other than McGreevey being a typical (re: shitty) political player?
The whole “naughtiness” of the McGreevey incident is way too 3 years ago. This Pedersen is either way behind the times or a straightup fraud. Not many care now about it; except, of course, conservatives who seem to unable to hear enough about gay scandal. The focus should be the harrasment McGreevey and his team inflicted on candidates, which is pretty bent and unacceptable…even if the candidates are GOP.
I much prefer nooner threesomes preceded by Saag Paneer and Vegetable Jalfrezi from my local $6.95 buffet.
These things don’t happen in a vacuum. I shudder to think what will be
acceptable behavior in the next decade as kids hit their teen years.
The sinful tri-fecta (NJ, NY, CT) have deposed their governors for sex or money.
What’s next - the Manchurian candidate in the White House???
Beware the Gobi Manchurian candidate.
Well wasnt it kothari who onced claimed to be al sharpton of indian people….
Apart from being a demagogue over arrest of an illegal immigrant, what has this person done?
