I doubt the Cake shop owners even know the meaning of a croissant. It’s probably just some fancy french word for bread and they started using it because of that.

On the other hand, I meet plenty of well-traveled Bandraites.

Well, they used to sell croissants as well..they probably added the ‘cake shop’ as an after-thought..it’s one of the oldest snack food franchise in Mumbai, in addition to Birdy’s :|( which also sells cakes, but I could never go there.. reminded me of bird poop..) and the sastaa Monginis..

And as far as I remember the name of the shop used to be ‘Croissants etc.’ with the etc. in small print under the ‘Croissants’ sign.. the ‘cake shop’ business looks like a new addition to me.

I agree with sqrlta, the chain is owned by the Narang’s of Ambassador hotel and used to be called Croissants etc., I am not sure when the etc. was dropped. PK ignorant comments like these serve no purpose, so it will help to be constructive.

My town used to have a luddul place that served chopsee and chomean.
I blame it on the screwed up phonetics of the english language.
